Dr. Karlem Reiss Award

The Dr. Kalem Riess Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association. It is given to a professional who has unsurpassed dedication to SGLA, as well as interfraternal collaboration and communication. Dr. Karlem Riess, a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, spent 40 years as the faculty advisor to fraternities at Tulane University, and he played an integral role in the founding of the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference in 1966. Dr. Riess passed away in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Durward W. Owen Interfraternal Service Award

Durward W. Owen Interfraternal Service Award honors individuals for their demonstrated dedication and commitment to the betterment of the fraternal movement through their service as a campus professional, headquarters staff member, or fraternal educator for at least 20 years.
