Founded in 2019, the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association (SGLA) is a voluntary association of fraternity and sorority governing councils in the United States Southeast. SGLA is one of the regional associations throughout North America designed to bring together institutions and individuals with a commitment to the promotion of fraternity and sorority life on college and university campuses.
Our Continued effort
The Southeastern Greek Leadership Association traces its roots to the founding of the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference (SEIFC) during a meeting of student leaders, fraternity professionals and advisors in Jackson, Mississippi in 1966. For over 50 years, the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference (SEIFC) provided educational leadership experience for fraternity men in the Southeast. In 2018, SEIFC partnered with the Southeastern Cultural Greek Leadership Summit (SCGLS) to provide council officer training for leaders of culturally-based fraternities and sororities. At our 2019 Leadership Academy, SEIFC Executive Director Gary Wiser announced that it was time for us to begin a new journey and enhance the leadership experience as the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association (SGLA). Along with programming for current participating groups, the SGLA experience will also include programming for Panhellenic leaders. The inaugural leadership conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia, February 20-22, 2020.
Our Mission
To strengthen fraternal communities throughout the Southeastern United States through quality programs, training and services to fraternity and sorority members and those who advise and support these communities.
Our Vision
The Southeastern Greek Leadership Association will be the regional leadership conference of choice for fraternity and sorority governing councils that are seeking quality education, training and development opportunities. SGLA will provide a unique, high-quality regional conference experience designed to provide officer training, collaboration among and between governing councils, and engaging, relevant educational programs.
